Greek banks report huge losses

The National Bank of Greece has reported a loss of €12.35bn in 2011, according to its chief Vasilios Rapanos. After the country’s biggest lender, two other bank have also released their 2011 result, with Eurobank’s reporting a €5.5bn loss, and Aplha Bank coming up €3.81bn short. Alpha bank’s Tier 1 capital fell 3 percent, while Eurobank has decided to keep that bit of information confidential.
