H&M sales in Romania increased almost three times in the first half of the fiscal year, ending May 31. They jumped from €11.6m a year ago to €32.6m, according to data released by the Swedish clothes retailer.
If fact, in the second quarter, sales increased by 56 percent, to €18.2m.
H&M opened four new stores in Romania in the second quarter, bringing its total number of units to 15. The Swedish retailer has six stores in Bucharest and one in Brasov, Cluj, Timisoara, Oradea, Constanta, Arad, Craiova, Iasi and Suceava.
H&M was set up in Sweden in 1947 and is listed at NASDAQ OMX Stockholm. The group has over 2,300 stores on 40 markets, including franchise shops. At group level in the first half of its fiscal year, sales increased 14 percent, to €6.7bn, without VAT.
