Half of Internet users in Poland don’t buy online

12 July 2016

As the European e-commerce sector continues growing at an impressive pace, many Poles remain committed to traditional brick-and-mortar stores. In their recent report Gemius and eCommerce Polska found that while nearly 70 percent of Poles use the Internet, only half of them actually buy and pay for goods and services online. In fact, this number hasn’t changed over the past few years, the report showed. “Every sector has its dynamic,” Krzysztof Zieliński from Gemius told the daily Rzeczpospolita. “The number of online buyers in Europe’s leading economies grew just about 4 percent between 2012 and 2015. What’s behind this lack of engagement is the fact the buyers still seek physical contact with the product, which is a constant phenomenon.”
