CRH Group entered into exclusive negotiations with Lafarge and Holcim to buy assets worth €6.5bn that the two cement producers have to offload on the Romanian market before they can merge.
The assets include two cement factories in Medgidia and Hoghiz owned by Lafarge, as well as a grinding station in Targu-Jiu, 15 concrete plants and four mobile concrete plants. Once the merger is completed, the new group will be called LafargeHolcim. CRH Group owns Elpreco in Dolj county and Ferrobeton in Prahova county.
