Retail sales on the Hungarian market increased 7 percent y-o-y in July, according to preliminary data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH). The data shows that adjusted fuel sales increased 8.3 percent, while food sales jumped 6.3 percent and non-food sales were up 7.2 percent. While new legislation requiring most big retailers to close on Sundays came into force in the middle of March, KSH said that more time and data were needed to gauge the effects of the new rule.
