Ikea will open a new store in Karlsruhe on September 24, two years after it held an official ground-breaking ceremony. A great deal has happened since that time, and the retailer has promised to implement strict hygienic procedures to ensure the store is safe for customers and staff. This includes limiting the number of customers allowed into it at any one time to just one person per 15 square meters of retail space. The new Ikea store will have 18,000 square meters, meaning that significantly fewer than 1,000 visitors will be allowed in at a time. Work is currently underway on the façade and on the new store’s outdoor facilities. Located next to a stop with two tram lines and an S-Bahn, Ikea will also be offering cargo bikes and charging facilities for both electric bikes and cars.
