Ikea plans three more Czech stores

Renovation work ended in Ikea’s Prague Zličín and Bratislava stores today, ending a lengthy period of reconstruction. The furniture chain spent CZK 240m on the renewal of the Prague store and €35m sprucing up the Bratislava store.
Meanwhile, the company announced plans to expand its Czech network over the next six years with new stores in Prague, Pilsen and Hradec Králové, the company’s CEO, Marek Feltl, told ČTK. He added that Ikea could open a third store in Prague within the next three years, and that in all, the retailer has set aside CZK 4bn to complete the expansion. Ikea’s Czech sales volume increased by 5 percent to CZK 7bn in the financial year ending in August. The furniture chain expects to increase its turnover by 4 percent this year.
