Czech customers of Ikea are ready for the online world of furniture shopping, but it turns out the Swedish retail giant isn’t. The store has found it impossible to keep up with the rising number of online orders, with its daily limit of orders being filled up far too quickly to satisfy customers. Ikea Czech Republic’s financial director Jan Vachal says that the number of orders on its e-shop is 66 percent higher than it was during the first lockdown period and is 12 times greater than it was a year ago. “Now, we’re handling around 4,000 order per day,” he said. “Our capacity at this point is completely overloaded. Our pick-up points in Hradec Kralove, Liberec and Zlin are also completely overloaded.” Customers can start making orders at 7:00 a.m. and are allowed to continue doing so until the store’s limit is reached, however that’s happening within a matter o minutes. Vachal said the limit is based on the capacity of delivery companies and its own pick-up points.
