Ikea’s sales were up by 10.8 percent during the September 2011 – August 2012 period, as Romanians spent approximately RON 401m (€89m) in the DIY store.
The store, which is located in the Baneasa retail park in Bucharest, sold 11,363,678 products of which 56 percent were furniture items and the rest were decorations and accessories.
Some 2.9 million people visited Ikea during the September 2011 – August 2012 period.
Ikea Romania has 441 employees, having opened in March 2007 and operating for three years as a franchise. In March 2010 it became part of the Ikea Group.
Ikea Romania was the 253rd store opened by the Swedish furniture company.
