IKEA to build new department store in Prague – Čestlice

1 June 2016

IKEA plans to build its fifth department store in the Czech Republic on the southern outskirts of Prague in Čestlice. The furniture department store will go up along the D1 motorway connecting Prague to Brno and will be part of a large shopping zone, developed by Domo Development. The zone will focus on furniture and leisure. The developer is reportedly working on the infrastructure for the area between exits 6 and 8 on the D1, that should offer a total of 390,000 sqm of leasable space. IKEA already has stores in Prague Zličín and Černý most and in Brno and Ostrava. It had planned to build another between Hradec Králové and Pardubice, but that idea is currently on hold.
