Ikea to expand Polish investment

2 June 2014

The Swedish furniture giant Inter Ikea told the daily Puls Biznesu that since it expects its global sales to rise to €50bn within the next six years, the company will be expanding its warehouse requirements on the European market. This includes Poland, says Evelyn Higler, managing director for Inter Ikea in Poland. “We haven’t decided yet whether we’ll be investing in new factories or expanding the existing ones, but we’ll definitely be adding new jobs.”

The revelation confirms a statement by Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister Janusz Piechociński earlier in the year that Ikea is ready to invest €1bn annually into the Polish market over the next six years. Higler declined to provide details about the size of any Polish investments. Higler admits that Poland remains one of the strategic markets for the company.
