Ikea is planning to launch an e-shop in Slovakia in March. The e-shop will start operating on a temporary platform, similar to the rollout in the Czech Republic last year. Customers will be able to choose whether they want home delivery or if they will pick up their goods at a store location. The Swedish furniture retailer plans to upgrade to a more sophisticated and user-friendly platform, which is currently being implemented in the UK. A total of 3.5 million unique customers clicked on Ikea’s website in Slovakia in the fiscal year ending in August. A total of 3 million shoppers came to its department store in Bratislava during the same period. The annual visitor volume rose by 4 percent, with every other shopper purchasing something at the store. Ikea’s revenues in Slovakia rose to €97.6m, up 10 percent y-o-y. Slovakia was the fifth fastest-growing market for the retailer.
