Inter IKEA Centre Group buys 24ha in Zabrze

3 July 2014

Inter Ikea Centre Polska, which will build its next retail project in the city of Zabrze, has just signed a purchase agreement with the city for the 25ha plot it needs for the project. The scheme will result in a new Ikea store and a shopping center. According to development director Wojciech Dzwonkowski, the company is set to start working on the design in the coming days.

This would be the second complex of its kind for Ikea in Poland, following its project in Łódź. “Considering the significance of the Upper Silesian region, which is growing rapidly, one Ikea store is not enough,” Dzwonkowski said. He added that the city strong transportation links was an important factor in Ikea’s targeting the location for its next investment. While it’s refused to provide further details, the company says it’s determined to launch the investment as soon as possible.
