Intesa Sanpaolo and UniCredit Bank wins tender for loan to Sarajevo Airport

Intesa Sanpaolo bank UniCredit bank won the tender for the procurement of a loan of 16.6 million KM (Approx. EUR10.33 mil.) for Sarajevo International Airport. The two banks offered a price in the amount of 1,986,183.34 KM. Sarajevo International Airport announced the tender on October 29, and the bids of the banks were accepted December 9. In addition to these two banks, groups of bidders also participated in the tender: ASA bank and Union bank and Sparkasse bank and Raiffeisen bank BiH.

After the e-auction, Intesa Sanpaolo UniCredit group offered the lowest price.

If there are no appeals within the 10 days provided for the appeal procedure, Sarajevo International Airport will sign a loan agreement with Intesa Sanpaolo Bank and UniCredit Bank.

The airport has been hit hard by flight cancellations and the temporary withdrawal of airlines due to border closures and constant changes to entry rules. According to the relevant indicators, the projection of the loss of the Airport as of December 31, 2020 amounts to around 13.3 million KM, and it is estimated that the return to last year’s results will take at least two to three years.
