Modern retail stock on the Polish market stood at nearly 13 million sqm at the beginning of this month, according to the latest numbers released by JLL. Shopping centers made up 9.3 million sqm (71 percent) of the total stock, followed by 3.5 million sqm of retail park and warehouse space and 0.2 million sqm of outlet center space. With a shopping center density of 241 sqm per 1,000 inhabitants, Poland remains above the European average of 202 sqm but under the Western European average of 262 sqm. Many large projects — including Multishop Jarocin in Jarocin, Galeria Metropolia in Gdańsk, CH Posnania in Poznań and Galeria Krupówki in Zakopane — are currently under construction, with completion set for 2016.
