Toy and decoration retailer Jumbo maintains its investment calendar for 2022 and 2023, preparing 3 new hypermarkets and the launch of online sales, but has decided to temporarily postpone further investment decisions in the context of “uncontrolled growth” of costs. The next local hypermarket will be opened in Sibiu.
“Looking towards 2024, the uncertainty is so great that the decisions that, under normal conditions, would have taken place today, have been postponed for the moment”, says the company.
In the first half of the year, in Romania, the company’s sales decreased by 7.2 percent compared to the same period last year, from almost EUR 72.47 million to EUR 67.23 million, the 15 hypermarkets on the local market contributing about 19 percent to the group’s sales.
