The online grocery store Košík.cz has placed a maximum weight limit on individual orders in reaction to panic buying over the past few days. Czechs have been stocking up on non-perishable food items over fears of supply disruptions as the coronavirus sweeps out of Italy and through Europe. The first three confirmed cases of the disease were announced on Sunday. Košík.cz reported that customers were making giant order of food and bottled water that weighed as much as 600 kilograms. This has had a huge impact on deliveries which can now take days. The company is now no longer accepting orders weighing more than 50 kilorams. “In recent days, it wasn’t an exception to receive orders of half a ton and it’s not possible to allow individuals to make it impossible for everyone else who needs to shop,” said Košík.cz’s director Tomáš Jeřábek. He said there’s no shortage of supplies and that there was no reason for the panic buying.
