In four years, the total debt of beauty and hair salons listed in the National Debt Register (KRD) has increased by 20% and currently amounts to PLN 45.6 million, according to KRD data.
There are currently 3,200 debtors from the beauty industry listed in the database of the National Debt Register of the Economic Information Bureau, each with an average of PLN 14,000 to repay. Since 2020, the debt has successively increased along with the number of entrepreneurs listed in the register. The largest increase was visible at the turn of 2022 and 2023, where the value of the debt jumped from PLN 39.9 million to PLN 45.8 million, currently it is slightly less, at PLN 45.6 million, it was reported.
Among the most indebted regions, the first place is occupied by the Mazowieckie Voivodeship: 612 entrepreneurs from the industry there are indebted by a total of PLN 11.5 million. The second place goes to Śląskie voivodship, where 398 firms have to repay 5.1 million zlotys. The top three is completed by beauty parlours and hairdressing salons from Pomorskie voivodship, which have to repay slightly less, i.e. 5.04 million zlotys.
One-person businesses, which have a total of PLN 36.52 million to pay, account for 80% of debtors. The average debt in this group is PLN 13 thousand. The rest of the outstanding amount belongs to commercial companies (just under PLN 10 million), with an average of PLN 16 thousand to be repaid per company, it was also indicated.
PLN 35.2 million is the amount that financial institutions (debt collection companies, banks, lessors and insurers) are waiting for – this is more than 3/4 of the total debt. Mobile operators are waiting for PLN 3.4 million to be reimbursed, and PLN 1.2 million are rent arrears, it was concluded.
