21 January 2016

Orlando City Soccer Club and the city of Orlando have reached terms for the sale of the land that the teams is currently building its new stadium on. The Orlando City Council has approved an $18 million exchange between itself and Orlando City Soccer to sell the team the 11.8 acres of land needed for the future 25,500-seat stadium. The team will be required to pay $4.1 million to the city at closing, with the remaining balance to be paid, with interest, over 15 years. The stadium is slated to open in 2017 for the third season of Orlando City Soccer Club and for the second season of the National Women’s Soccer League’s new Orlando Pride team.

“The parties have agreed on a fair market value purchase price of $35 per square foot,” reads a city document. “In addition, Orlando Soccer Stadium [a related entity of the team] will pay the city $3.1 million for site preparation work, for a total of $21,090,280.”
