German retailer Lidl bought two XXL Mega Discount stores in Romania from Penny Market. The stores are located in Sibiu and Galati. The two locations both have 2,500 sqm sales areas. Lidl will also take over the land surrounding the stores, putting the transaction price between €6m and €8m, according to local news reports. Lidl and Penny Market are both leading players on the discount retail market. Each retail operates approximately 200 stores in Romania.
