The German discount supermarket operator Lidl opened a new store in Bucharest this morning and will be opening another store in Oradea later in the day.
Saying the expansion was in line with its commitment to creating new jobs in Romania, the company reports that its 148 stores employ 3,000 people.
With 9,000 stores across Europe, Lidl is one of the largest retail chains in the region, operating more than 100 logistics centers in 20 countries. With more than 170,000 employees, Lidl is ranked as one of the top 10 food retailers in the world.
