Lidl reduces opening hour of its stores in Romania, in order to save energy

27 September 2022

The retailer Lidl, part of the German Schwartz group and the largest chain of stores in Romania by turnover, will reduce the operating hours of its stores in Romania, in order to reduce its energy costs and, indirectly, contribute to the European plan to reduce electricity consumption during the peak consumption period.

Thus, the schedule of Lidl stores, which operated until 22.00, would be reduced by an hour or two, respectively until 20.00 or 21.00.

The German discounter Lidl is the leader of the local trade in terms of turnover, which reached almost RON 15 billion in 2021. The company operates a chain of over 340 stores nationwide.
