Lidl is continuing its Slovak expansion and modernization with plans to build a new supermarket in Ilava. The store will replace the existing supermarket in the center of the town at the junction of Štúrova and Pivovarska streets. The new store is to go up on a site 500 meters further along the Štúrova street near the Ilava ring road. The 2,400 sqm store with parking for 120 cars will be built on a 1 ha site adjacent the Slovnaft petrol station and industrial and logistic operations. Lidl hopes to start construction in March and complete the new store in six months, with costs running to €2.5m. A shopping zone with 25 units is also planned in the location.
