Makro changes name, strategy

The cash & carry giant Makro is changing its logo in the Czech Republic to Vy & Makro. Translated roughly to mean “You and Makro”, the company said the intention is to create a better connection to its small business customers who buy their goods in bulk.

In an effort to provide better service, the company started delivering goods in 2008. Makro makes 16 percent of its turnover from online orders. Marko hopes to become to top food delivery retailer in the Czech Republic by 2020. It claims to have 900,000 customers in the Czech Republic. The company said online sales totaled CZK 1bn in 2013.
