Makro, part of the Metro group, plans to open a progressive distribution center outside Prague in 2018. The fully automatized warehouse will cost CZK 1.5bn and will be the first distribution center owned by the wholesale chain, which is now leasing space from its logistic providers Hopi and Hortim. The distribution center will serve 13 Makro stores as well as some of the chain’s clients. The center will employ 600 staff, despite the fact that it will be fully automatized, writes Hospodářské noviny. Its distribution center outside Prague will serve as pilot project for other markets, said general director of metro Group Olaf Koch.
