Mall Group, operator of one of the largest Czech e-shops, is taking over grocery e-shop Košík.cz. The group is planning to merge Košík with its own grocery e-shop, Kolonial.cz, according to Mall Group spokesman Jan Řezáč. The transaction, aimed at creating the leading grocery e-shop in the Czech Republic, was co-financed by Mall Group investment partners PPF, Daniel Křetínský and Patrik Tkáč. The purchase price was not disclosed. Mall Group bought Košík.cz from Josef Koller, who became its sole owner over the past few weeks. Online grocery sales have seen significant growth in the Czech Republic, with the sales volume totaling CZK 8bn in 2016. Lidl and Globus are planning to enter the market, which is currently dominated by Rohlik.cz, Freshbedynky.cz, Coop-box.cz, Plnataska.cz and Potravinydodomu.cz in addition to Košík.cz and Kolonial.cz.
