Delhaize Group, which owns Mega Image stores, paid €14m last year for the acquisition of 20 Angst stores. Angst ended its collaboration with Carrefour in 2014, and in August, Mega Image took over 20 of the 22 stores operated by Angst. The Competition Council approved the acquisition of 19 of the 20 stores. By the end of 2014, Mega Image reopened 18 of the stores under its own brand. The 19th location acted as an extension to an existing Mega Image store.
Mega Image was fined by the Competition Council, along with other local retailers, over price-fixing agreements they made with certain suppliers.
