Mega Image has bought 20 of the 22 supermarkets operated by Angst on the Romanian market. Xavier Piesvaux, general manager of Mega Image, said the deal is part of his company’s development strategy. The Belgian retailer expects the 20 new stores in its portfolio will bring in €21m annually. The value of the transaction was not made public. The Angst network was owned by the Swiss Angst family and Romanian businessman Sorin Minea, who recently ended their partnership with the French retailer Carrefour after three years of collaboration. Carrefor had operated the Angst network in Romania from September 2011 until May 2014.
