Metro Cash & Carry plans to expand its distribution capacity in the Bory retail zone on the western outskirts of Bratislava. The wholesaler will invest €2.5m into a new warehouse offering 2,000 sqm of storage space in eight blocks. Following the expansion, Bory will be Metro’s largest distribution center in Slovakia. Completion is set for the last quarter of 2015. Metro currently operates a 500 sqm distribution center outside Devinska Nova Ves. The new distribution center in Bory will serve territory stretching from Bratislava to the Czech border. Slavomír Smetanka, distribution manager for Metro, believes the expanded distribution center will help increase sales by 40 percent in the next financial year.
