A partnership between Community Windpower in Scotland and Nestlé has been created and will see Nestlé buying electricity from the new wind farm that is to be built by the first half of 2017. The new wind farm will be used for half of Nestlé’s electrical needs in the UK and Ireland where the company has a total of 13 facilities. The Sanquhar Community wind farm is to be built in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, and will produce 125 gigawatt hours. That’s enough power to keep 30,000 houses running. The wind farm will consist of nine wind turbines. The 15-year deal is another one of Nestlé’s attempts to source renewable energy as public pressure to transition to a low-carbon economy mounts.
