Carrefour’s Slovak network looks like it will avoid bankruptcy. The hypermarket operator has attracted a new investor: former Penta partner Jozef Špirko, who was introduced at a meeting of creditors of Retail Value Stores, which operates five Carrefour hypermarkets in Slovakia. He did not reveal the investment volume but said that the operation will have to be subsidized. Aktuality.sk writes that goods are back on the shelves at Carrefour shops, which were empty a week ago.
Representatives of five suppliers were appointed to the creditors committee – Mäsokombinát Polička, Kofola, Berto, Unilever and Pivovary Topvar. Špirk promised to offer better conditions to the suppliers, whose invoices Carrefour was not able to pay for at least a year. The creditors committee will now apply for restructuring approval.
