A new shopping center called Pharos Center is being planned on 60 ha of land near the Bratislava airport, according to Czech Television. It says the city already offers more than 1 sqm of retail space per resident and that the average Slovak spends CZK 50,000 in shopping centers. The figure for Bratislava residents is even higher. The new development will offer fashion, furniture, groceries and a DIY store. Czech Television warns that many Slovaks prefer to shop in nearby Austria, where they claim to be able to find higher quality goods at lower prices.
