NoVa Park – the largest and most modern shopping center in the Lubuskie Voivodeship – has once again received the BREEAM In-Use certificate for sustainable construction. The facility in Gorzów was rated “Excellent” in the “Asset Performance” area and “Very Good” in the “Building Management” category.
NoVa Park in Gorzów Wielkopolski is an environmentally friendly facility, which is why every year, for 9 years, it has been assessed for compliance with the BREEAM In-Use criteria and each time has passed the certification process positively. Experts looking at the object highly rated, among others the impact of the facility on the health and well-being of visitors, awarding the center with nearly 80% of the points. The highest score, for 100% of points, was ecological waste management.
NoVa Park realizes that green areas play a significant role in the urban ecosystem, therefore the area of green areas is around 7,200 sqm, which is 17% of the entire area of the center. Biodiversity is also positively influenced by the presence of a pond located in the north-eastern part of NoVa Park, and two insect hotels installed last summer provide shelter and allow them to build nests.
Environmental initiatives occupy an equally important place in NoVa Park’s strategy. For several years, the center has been cooperating with WWF Polska, engaging in the “Earth Hour” campaign. The employees of NoVa Park also support local projects – last year, on the occasion of Earth Day, the team from NoVa Park took part in cleaning the bank of the Warta, initiated by anglers from Gorzów.
“We are very pleased with the next BREEAM In-Use certificate. The ‘excellent’ and ‘very good’ ratings confirm the effectiveness of our activities in the area of sustainable development,” says Anna Krajczyńska, senior marketing specialist at NoVa Park.
The BREEAM In-Use certificate is one of the most frequently used methods of assessing the environmental performance of buildings in Europe. During certification, the condition of the building and its management are examined. Among the issues assessed are, among others energy efficiency, water consumption, material and waste management, as well as the comfort of visitors.
