OBI will reopen four stores from the Baumax portfolio that OBI and the Polish DIY Merkury Market took over last year. OBI plans to open the rebranded stores in Brno, Jihlava, Zlín and Přerov at the beginning of February, increasing its network to 33 locations. Merkury Market has not revealed what it plans to do with 18 former Baumax stores it took over. Baumax operated 24 stores across the Czech Republic and reported losses over five consecutive years. In 2014, it reported a CZK 562m loss. Baumax announced plans to leave the market in mid-2015 and closed its stores in November.
