On Friday, ŘSD will start building part of D3 Třebonín-Kaplice for CZK 1.87 billion

The Directorate of Roads and Motorways (ŘSD) will start building a part of the D3 Třebonín – Kaplice motorway on Friday, February 4 for CZK 1.87 billion. The first works involving topsoil will last until the end of March. ŘSD spokesman Jan Rýdl told ČTK today. The 8.5-kilometer-long Třebonín-Kaplice section should be built for three years. It will be built by Metrostav Infrastructure.

“The contract is signed, valid, the construction is starting from Friday. We are starting the construction of a section adjacent to the two that are on the České Budějovice bypass. This means that from Friday afternoon we will continuously build more than 29 kilometers of D3 highway,” the spokesman said. The first works, especially land cover, should be completed by the end of March. “We will use the rest of the winter, which is not so dramatic in southern Bohemia, the schedule (construction) is not at all risky. There is a lot of work there, but in those two months, February and March, basic overburden work should be manageable without any problems. even with a minor outage due to the weather, “said Rydl. Minister of Transport Martin Kupka (ODS) should also attend the opening.

The building has a valid building permit. In the tender, Metrostav Infrastructure offered the best price of CZK 1.87 billion. The construction will include ten bridges and one level crossing. The state wants to put the department into operation at the end of 2024.

The state originally wanted to start building in the second half of last year. Metrostav Infrastructure won the tender, in which ŘSD received five bids. The decision to win the competition was made more difficult by the fact that other companies questioned Metrostav Infrastructure’s references. However, in another controversial tender, the Office for the Protection of Competition (OPC) ruled that references should be recognized. Already last October, Jan Rýdl said that ŘSD would use this decision as a valid case law for other tenders with Metrostav.

No later than in August this year, ŘSD will announce a tender for the construction of a part of the D3 motorway Kaplice nádraží – Nažidla. The state wants to start building a nearly 12-kilometer section with an estimated cost of CZK 6.25 billion excluding VAT in the spring of 2023 at the latest, according to ŘSD CEO Radek Mátl in the autumn. According to ŘSD, the D3 motorway should be completed to the border with Austria by 2024.

The D3 motorway, which is to connect Prague with České Budějovice and the Austrian border, is now in operation. It should measure 170 kilometers. According to former Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES), the entire D3 from Prague to the border should be ready by 2028.
