Czechs are the European leaders when it comes to buying technical consumer items online, according to new research by the GfK agency. A full 39 percent of them use the Internet for such acquisitions, compared to 38 percent that buy in normal stores. The remainder buy online and in stores. The European average for buying consumer electronics is just 23 percent. The most common purchase is of portable electronic items, which 57 percent of all Czechs buy only online, followed by audio goods (32 percent) and computers (48 percent). However, 91 percent of domestic consumers buy their groceries the old fashioned brick and mortar way. Roughly 29 percent of Czechs pay for their goods using smart phones, far lower than the EU average of 48 percent.
