Online grocery delivery spreading beyond Prague

26 February 2020

Online grocery platforms are looking for expansion possibilities beyond Prague, creating fresh challenges for pure brick and mortar networks. Tesco has recently opened its e-shop for business in České Budějovice and other locations in southern Bohemia having begun operations in Prostějov, Přerov and Olomouc at the end of last year. The daily E15 reports that Košík is focusing on the Central Bohemian region in response to the flood of people moving out of the capital who are bringing big-city habits with them. “Consumer habits are undergoing major changes there,” said the company’s director Tomáš Jeřábek, who said his company would be delivering to smaller towns like Nymburk, Poděbrad, Kolín and Kutna Hora. “We’ll definitely be continuing to cover the edges of the Prague metropolitan area and we’re picking further regions that meet the requirements for a successful introduction of our services. There are lots of locations where it would make sense to start.” He told E15 Košík is now evaluating new Moravian locations.
