Penny Market is expanding its Romanian network, with plans to open five new stores by the end of the year. The new units will be located in Ludus, Fetesti, Focsani, Bucharest and Giurgiu. The Bucharest store is going up on the former Frigocom factory site on Timisoara Boulevard. Costs could hit €5m.
The discount retailer currently operates 175 stores in the country under the Penny Market and XXL Mega Discount brands.
