Penta shortlisted for Schlecker purchase

12 April 2012

Penta has been shortlisted as one of six potential buyers of Schlecker – a German drugstore chain, currently in bankruptcy proceedings. The announcement came after the Czech Anti-monopoly office approved the potential acquistion, paving the way for another retail chain acquisition by the Czech-Slovak financial group. The company also wants to to acquire a 40 percent stake in partnership with the Eastbridge fund. The two potential acquisitions follow purchase of Žabka, a grocery store chain Penta bought in 2007 and sold last year having earned €200m, according to the economic server E15.
