Poland’s monthly wages up by 3.8% in April

The Polish labor market is slowly picking up, with recent data from the National Statistical Office (GUS) showing that the average gross monthly wage jumped 3.8 percent y-o-y, to PLN 3,976, in April. “As the unemployment rate continues to be high for Poland, local employers feel no pressure to lift wages,” says Rafał Sadoch of Plus Bank. “But as the Polish market continues to improve in the coming months, the bargaining power of the employees will strengthen.”

Market analysts agree that the positive trend will continue in the coming months, as the number of new jobs gradually expands on the Polish market. “This regards mostly the processing industry, which witnessed the biggest employment growth last month, thanks to the growing investment volume,” says Jakub Borwoski of Credit Agricole.
