Police arrested the man who’s been charged in the bomb threat that emptied the Novy Smichov shopping center on Monday. The mall was closed for six hours, from 15:15 to 21:15, as bomb squads searched the area for explosives. The man demanded that CZK 10 million be placed in a bag in a dumpster behind the mall. “Otherwise the whole building will be blown up,” he said in an anonymous phone threat. A spokesman for the police said the man has confessed and that his motive was that he was really angry, and couldn’t think of what else to do. As of July, the police had recorded 54 threats of this kind, of which they had solved 34.
