Polish retail sales grew 4.8% in January

Poland’s retail sales rose in January by 4.8 percent compared with the same period in 2013, according to a recent report from the Polish National Statistical Office (GUS). Still, the indicator dropped by 21.3 percent in January 2014, compared to December 2013.

According to the report, the biggest jump last month was seen in Poland’s automotive sector. Car sales for the country grew by a healthy 28.8 percent in January, compared to the same period in 2013.

As expected, Poland’s furniture and electronics market saw the biggest drop in January. Sales for the sector fell by a heavy 38 percent month-on-month in January.
