Portugal’s consumer price index rose 0.8 percent in June compared to a year ago, according to the country’s National Institute of Statistics (INE). The initial forecast by INE was for a gain of 0.2 percent, which means that the statistical body revised downwards.
The country’s Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) registered a year-on-year change of 0.2%, at a rate higher by 0.8 pp than in May and 0.1 pp lower than Eurostat’s estimate for the euro zone. In turn, the HICP registered a monthly variation of 1.2 percent, whereas the average variation from last year was zero.
