Greece’s PPC Renewables, the green energy unit of Greek power utility PPC launched a tender for the construction and commissioning of a 550 MW solar park at the site of the former Ptolemaida lignite mine, in the northwestern part of the country.
The estimated value of the project is EUR 216 million euro excluding VAT and the provision of photovoltaic panels.
The contractor is required to carry out the project study, construction, procurement, transportation and installation of other equipment through to commissioning of the facility as well as the construction and repair of connections to the grid, including substations.
In late 2021, PPC carried out a 1.35 billion capital increase, with a 75 million euro participation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, with the aim of speeding up renewable energy investments in Greece and adjacent markets in Southeast Europe.
