Prague 14th most attractive European retail location

17 December 2014

Prague has a mature retail market, according to JLL’s Destination Europe 2015 report which looks at the expansion and presence of 250 international retailers across 57 key markets.

“Prague has moved from a growth retail market into a mature market category thanks to its stable economy, growing spending power and significantly improved market transparency. In addition, Prague is a major tourist destination, having attracted 4.75 million international visitors last year,” says Beatrice Mouton, head of the retail agency for the CEE region at JLL.

Prague is the 14th most attractive European location for international retailers, according to the report. London took the top spot, followed by Paris and Moscow. When it comes to retail, Prague outperforms cities like Vienna, Brussels, Frankfurt and Zurich, according to JLL. The Czech capital ranks first among CEE cities.

Although it’s now a mature market, Prague still has more potential for growth than Vienna, Frankfurt and Zurich. As shown in the report, these cities can expect a retail sales growth of up to 10 percent while the retail sales growth forecast for Prague is at least 15 percent.
