The Prague City Hall will commission a zoning study of the wider surroundings of the Zličín metro station. On Monday, the city councillors approved this. According to the city administration, in view of the construction in the area and its traffic load, it is necessary to coordinate the planned projects and create a comprehensive idea of the future shape of the area. The city is planning to build a P+R parking building or a metro and tram extension there.
According to Deputy Mayor Petr Hlaváček (STAN), Zličín has gradually transformed from a garden city into a gateway to the city. “Unfortunately, it has long been a fragmented area without a clear urban structure. There is a lack of necessary infrastructure for pedestrians and transport, and there are family houses next to the shopping centre, which leads to a deterioration in the quality of life of local residents,” he said.
He said the spatial study is to help ensure that future developments in the area do not negatively affect the lives of locals. The study will cover the area bounded by Rozvadovská spojka, the Prague ring road, the railway line and Jeremiášova, Plzeňská, Strojírenská, Hrozenkovská and Na Radosti streets.
The municipality plans to build a parking house for 450 cars around the Zličín metro station, modernise the depot and build a new surface station at the Depo Zličín metro station, extend the tram line from the Sídliště Řepy stop or rebuild the bus terminal.
The future Depo Zličín station will be one of the few surface stations of the Prague metro and will serve as a transfer point to the B metro line not only for drivers parking in the new P+R parking house, but also for passengers from suburban lines. In addition, it will serve the surrounding residential development, which will grow in the coming years with additional apartment buildings in Na Radosti Street. In recent years, a number of flats have already been built in Zličín.
