Prague mall partially evacuated after fumes scare

25 March 2019

Around 500 people were evacuated from Centrum Chodov in Prague 4 after complaints of an unknown stench at around 2pm on Sunday. The floor containing the Albert hypermarket and the stores across from it were forced to close until nearly 6pm as police and emergency servcies investigated the issue. It was found that dangerous levels of an organic solvent were released during work on floor tiles. The area was ventilated and the fumes were not spread to other levels of the mall. A total of three people were treated by paramedics, but only one was transported to a nearby hospital because of discomfort.
