The head of the Praktiker DIY stores Thomas Fox denies that company intends to withdraw from foreign markets, though its results for 2011 hasn’t been optimistic. The company announced it sales went fell by 7.7 percent to EU 3.183 bn, while its operating loss reached the amount of €375.1m. Fox said the current macroeconomic situation makes it difficult to acquire a potential buyer for Praktiker’s assets, particularly those located in Greece, Romania, Hungary and Poland. In November 2011, Praktiker launched a restructuring program to review its international operations.
