Profi opened two new supermarkets in Romania last week in the cities of Targu Jiu and Abrud. The retailer currently has 142 stores in its regional network.
The Targu Jiu store has a total area of 440 sqm, while the Abrud store is 453 sqm.
The new stores will add more than 70 new jobs to the local labor market, said Pawel Musial, Profi’s general manager, adding that the retailer has more than 4,000 employees in Romania.
Profi is set to open another store in the city of Targu Mures on Saturday, which will have a sales area of 905 sqm.
Owned by the investment fund Enterprise Investors, the retailer reported €214.5m in turnover in 2011, a 29-percent increase from 2010.
