The 12th annual CIJ Awards Poland were held at the Westin Hotel in downtown Warsaw on Oct. 30 by CIJ, Central and Eastern Europe’s leading real estate magazine. The CIJ Awards are aimed at developers, their projects and their service providers in the commercial and residential real estate sector. On the basis of online voting by select CIJ readers and a panel of independent judges, Galeria Katowicka–NEINVER Polska was named Retail Development of the Year.
Considered one of the top commercial centers in Europe, the four-story Galeria Katowicka sits on a 3 ha plot and has three underground floors. The city center’s street system underwent a thorough redevelopment, allowing easy access to the new shopping center by nearly all means of transport, including regional, domestic and international trains, city buses, trams, cars and bicycles. Galeria Katowicka is part of a major rejuvenation project underway in downtown Katowice, which includes a new station hall, an underground bus station, a new Szewczyka Square and an underground car park.
NEINVER Polska started the project in July 2007 and finished it in September 2013. Galeria Katowicka offers 250 stores over 53,000 sqm of GLA and 1,200 parking spaces.
